Angry mob burned down 47 BRT buses as KAI chased a hawker to his death at Maryland, Lagos 


All hell was let loose in Maryland, Lagos, yesterday when a hawker was crushed by a truck.His colleagues went wild, destroying about 47 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses belonging to Primero Transport Service Ltd and several others owned by LAGBUS Asset Management.

Gay men attacked in Cote d’Ivore for sympathizing with Orlando victims 


Six gay men were attacked in Cote d’Ivoire and forced to flee their homes after they were pictured signing a condolence book for the victims of the recent attack at a gay night club in Orlando, Florida early this month. The U.S. embassy in the country had hosted an event a fortnight ago to honor the Florida victims and published a photo of the six men on its website with the caption: ‘LGBT community signing the condolence book’.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola has struck out a suit filed by Abuja based legal practitioner, Nnamdi Nwokocha- Ahaaiwe, challenging the authenticity of President Buhari’s WAEC certificate. The case was struck out following a notice of withdrawal filed by the institutor, Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe.In striking out the case this morning, the presiding judge, Justice Ademola held that by “section 50(2) of the federal high court civil procedure rule

Novelist, Poet and dramatist Elechi Amadi died today at the Good Heart Hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. 

I remember reading some of his novels like Sunset in Biafra, The Concubine, and Isiburu back in secondary school. May his soul rest in peace.

Court orders EFCC and Zenith Bank to explain why they froze Fayose’s account 


The Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Zenith Bank plc to show cause why an Order Exparte to defreeze Governor Ayodele Fayose’s accounts, filed yesterday to the court by the governor’s legal team, should not be granted. The judge gave Monday July 4 for the anti-graft agency and Zenith bank Plc to appear in court with the said evidence. 

2 suspected cable thieves caught and tied to a transformer fence in Gwagwalada, Abuja


Angry mob last Wednesday, nabbed two suspected cable thieves and tied them to a transformer fence at Anagada village, Gwagwalada Area Council.

According to Daily Trust, a resident of the community identified as LLiyasu said the two suspects allegedly went to vandalize a newly installed transformer at the outskirts of the community but a security guard at the village primary school heard strange sounds from the direction of the transformer and raised alarm.

Oritsefemi got his former manager, Danku (real name Yusuf Adepitan) arrested on red carpet of a comedy concert in Lagos.

In what appears to be a continuation of the fallout between the duo, the Lagos state police command stormed the Muson Centre, Onikan at a comedy concert on Sunday to arrest Danku, the NET is reporting.
